Meet the Staff - Meghan Nash
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I moved to Maine from Melbourne, Florida, where I lived for the past four years while pursuing a Psy.D. in clinical psychology. I grew up in upstate New York, near Albany. I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Cortland in 2004, an M.S.Ed. in Counseling from The College of Saint Rose in 2007, and in 2012 a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology . I came to Maine for my internship year at the University of Maine’s Counseling Center and was then hired to be a Clinical Staff member and oversee the Touchstone Resources program. I have experiences working in several clinical settings, including a college counseling center, inpatient hospital, community mental health agency, neuropsychological facility, and a community agency for victims of sexual trauma. When working with clients, I have a tendency to pull from different theoretical orientations depending on the needs of my client; however, I most often work from cognitive-behavioral, multicultural, and humanistic models. The most important part of my life is my family and friends. My perfect day is spending quality time with loved ones or at home or by the beach reading with a cup of coffee. I have a pug, Hank and a cat, Heidi. My favorite day of the week is Thursday’s because I love to watch The Big Bang Theory and Grey’s Anatomy!
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
I have had many moments that are too embarrassing to tell in this bio. One memory that my family enjoys recalling was at some point when I was in high school, my brother (who is four years younger than me) came home one day and said to me, “Meg, did you know gullible isn’t in the dictionary?” and I responded kind of in shock with, “No, I didn’t. It really isn’t in there?” It took me a few seconds, after watching my brother and mom hysterically laughing, to realize I had fallen for a joke and yes, I was gullible.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Cake batter ice cream mixed with cookie dough and rainbow sprinkles from Cold Stone.
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This is a difficult question as there are so many incredible places I would love to visit! At the top of my list would have to be going on a safari in South Africa.
