Relationships are important to all of us and can deepen our sense of fulfillment in life. Couples who find themselves experiencing unsatisfying communication patterns, having power or control struggles, having sexual difficulties, or are experiencing other relationship difficulties may want to try couples counseling. Relationship skills such as healthy communication, conflict resolution, and cooperative goal setting are often components of such therapy. In this process couples can develop a more intimate, satisfying, and healthy relationship and learn skills which help the relationship continue to grow after the therapy has ended.
The Counseling Center provides counseling for couples when at least one partner is a student. If deemed clinically important, we also at times will do family counseling. Both partners should fill out the Intake, Initial Contact Form, and ORS/SRS (which you get at the front desk) even if only one is a student. We do not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Same-sex couples are welcome.
