How to Apply
As a member of APPIC we will be using the current APPIC Application for Psychology Internship (AAPI) Form and will be participating in the APPIC matching program. The APPI Form is available online. The University of Maine Counseling Center Internship Program Code is 135611. Applications are due November 1, 2022.
To participate in the APPIC matching program, you must be registered. If you have not already done so, you must obtain an Applicant Agreement Package from NMS and register for the matching program in order to be eligible to be matched to our program. You may request an Application Package from NMS through the Matching Program Website.
Applications should include a completed current AAPI Form, which contains information about your training hours/experience, official graduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation from people familiar with your academic and applied performance, essays and other important information.
All information is submitted through APPI Online. Upon receipt of your completed application, our Selection Committee will review your material. From this initial review, a selected pool of applicants will be invited for an interview either by Zoom or phone. While we would prefer to meet candidates in-person, we no longer offer that options because of Center service demands and because the cost required of applicants to make such trips is exorbitant and we believe it is not socially just to expect that of candidates. Interviews are conducted during the first two weeks of January. If invited to interview you will be notified no later than December 15. Additional drop-in meetings will be scheduled to allow applicants to ask questions of current interns. If you do want to visit the Counseling Center you are welcome to, but not until after our decision-making process is completed.
