How far are residence halls from facilities to be used for major sessions, registration?

The university residence halls have a total bed capacity of 3,500.

Will small children or pets be allowed in the residence halls?
Small children are allowed in the residence hall facilities. Pets are not allowed.

Which amenities are provided in residence halls, such as towels, sheets, soap, toilet paper, room service, laundry facilities, telephones, etc.?


Linen service is included in the room rates; towels, blankets, sheets, and pillows are provided.

Room service is provided Mondays through Fridays only. Towels can be exchanged daily. Bedding can be exchanged every fourth day.  Youth rates are available without room service.

Are the residence halls air conditioned?
No, because the Maine summers, for the most part, do not require it. It is recommended to bring a fan whenever possible.

What are regulations regarding smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages in residence halls?

The University of Maine is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking is not permitted in the interior of any University vehicle or building, including the residence halls.  Questions about this policy may be referred to the Employee Health and Benefits Manager at 581-2366.

It is against the law and university policy for minors (under the legal drinking age of 21 years in the State of Maine) to possess, sell, procure, or consume alcohol.  It is illegal and against university policy for any person of the legal drinking age to consume alcoholic beverages in a common area.  Certain areas in residence halls and other university facilities may be designated for a party, dance or other amusement with alcohol for people of the legal age.

Are there any light kitchen facilities?
The Doris Twitchell Allen Village and Edith Patch Hall complexes have a complete kitchen in each suite which consists of three or four bedrooms, a living room and two bathrooms, one with a shower stall and sink, the other with a toilet and sink. Both bathrooms have electrical outlets and mirrors. Cooking utensils, kitchenware and dinnerware are not provided.  All other resident halls do not have kitchen facilities.
