Commuter Assistants

The Commuter Lounge is staffed by student workers, known as Commuter Assistants, on weekdays when classes are in session.  Commuter Assistants are returning commuter students who are knowledgeable about the campus and the local communities.

Many Commuter Assistants may be non-traditional students who have their own experiences juggling their many life commitments with their academic course load. This gives them the perspective and experience to help their fellow commuter and non-traditional student community.

Most Commuter Assistants are work-study employees. It’s a fun, relaxed, and engaging place to work and give back to your campus community. Hiring generally occurs by late August for the upcoming academic year. Please contact um.cntsp@maine.edu if you are interested in working as a Commuter Assistant for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year.
