Welcome to Construction Engineering Technology

New Program Name

Construction Management Technology at the University of Maine has a new name but it is the same great program. The name was changed so that the program could continue to be accredited under the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET ( Construction Engineering criteria. Being accredited under the construction engineering criteria allows our graduates to seek professional engineering licensure in many states including Maine.

CET Overview

The Construction Engineering Technology program is a blend of civil engineering technology, construction, and business management. Starting with a basic grounding in mathematics and the physical sciences, the student is concurrently and progressively taught:

  • Plane Surveying
  • Construction Surveying
  • Structural Analysis and Design
  • Soils & Testing
  • Construction Materials
  • Concrete Testing
  • Civil Works
  • Drafting

Concurrently, the program then moves into technical construction topics such as:

  • Construction Law
  • Construction Administration
  • Construction Documents
  • Scheduling
  • Heavy highway Construction
  • Building Methods and Equipment
  • Estimating
  • Industrial Construction

Subsequently, the Construction Management Technology curriculum features business courses many of which are tailored to construction industry practices.
