Campus Sex Crime Prevention Act

Posted By Steve Martell On July 26, 2010 @ 14:42 In | Comments Disabled

This Act requires individuals convicted of certain sexual offenses and offenses against minors to notify the State of each institution of higher education at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation or is a student. The State must enter the information and make this information available to a law enforcement agency having jurisdiction where such institution is located.

The University of Maine Police Department is the law enforcement agency of jurisdiction at the University of Maine. Information provided by the State under section 170101(j) of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (42 U.S.C. 14071(j)), concerning registered sex offenders can be found at the State of Maine Sex Offender Registry at http://sor.informe.org/sor/ [1]
