About This Report

Statistics must be compiled by the University Police Department on certain crimes when reported by a victim or witness to the Department or a campus official with significant responsibility for student and campus activities. This report may also include certain crimes reported to the Orono and Old Town Police departments as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998.

Notice of availability of this report is made by October 1st of each year to enrolled students and current employees by electronic mail. Notice to prospective students is made with the information included with application materials by the Admissions Office. Notice to prospective employees is made with information included with the application material by the Office of Human Resources.

Deans, Directors, and Department Heads of all departments and units of the University of Maine must complete, or designate an individual to complete, the “University of Maine Crime Statistics Report Form” and the “Confidential Sexual Assault Report Form” and submit it to the UMaine Police Department Chief’s office. The Judicial Affairs Officer for the University of Maine is also required to report all crimes to the UMaine Police DepartmentĀ that are included in the Clery Act that have not been previously reported to us.

With the totality of this information, the annual report is compiled and published electronically by October 1st of each year. The report is available atĀ http://www.umaine.edu/clery.
