The University of Maine Police Department would like to welcome you to the campus of The University of Maine. This report is intended to provide you with essential information regarding the University of Maine’s programs, services, policies, and statistics about the occurrence of crime on campus, policies regarding sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. Also the displinary procedures on campus are explained, and services available to any student are outlined. Our mission is to provide the highest quality services while maintaining a safe environment in which to learn, live, and grow. We see ourselves as educators who provide law enforcement services in support of the mission of the University of Maine. Every contact that is made with the community is an opportunity to educate on the responsibilities of being a productive member of the educational community.
The University of Maine is a land grant/sea grant institution of higher education. The University of Maine is the largest of the several campuses which make up the University of Maine System. Approximately 12,000 students are enrolled and 2,300 faculty and staff are employed at the University of Maine.
The University of Maine is committed in its efforts to ensure that the campus remains safe and secure. To do so requires not just the efforts of the UMaine police department, but the cooperation and understanding of everyone at the University of Maine.
