The School of Computing and Information Science (CIS) is at the center of all things computational at UMaine. CIS offers a range of in-demand graduate and undergraduate programs in computer science, information systems, and spatial information science and engineering. The tone in CIS is informal and geared to dedicating to each individual our attention to your personal goals. We provide plenty of hands-on experience with state-of-the art technology. Our graduates have taken leading positions in government, industry, and academia.
CIS comprises experts in such diverse fields as robotics, information law, databases, virtual worlds, spatial information and climate change, all of which are exceptionally relevant as we explore the ideas and technologies that reach into all our lives. The School is the home of the internationally renowned National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, with expertise in geospatial science and technology.
