into Science and Mathematics Classrooms

3rd Biennial one-and-a-half-day conference for middle- and high-schoolscience and mathematics teachers
Hosted by the University of Maine Center for Science and Mathematics Education Research (Center) and the Jackson Laboratory, with support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Bank of America Company, trustee of the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation, and Maine EPSCoR at the University of Maine, which is funded by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. EPS-0554545
This conference will explore ways to give students the opportunity to develop their own evidence-based understanding of science and mathematics concepts by researching and solving content-rich problems. The conference will run from 8:30 A.M. Monday until 1:30 P.M. Tuesday. Space is limited to 90 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The conference is free for participants and includes all conference meals. Housing on Monday night is available for a limited number of participants. Fifty spaces will be held for in-service teachers who will receive a $200 stipend for participating in the entire conference. Certificate of Attendance and Continuing Education Units will be provided. All participants are invited to present posters showing research-supported curricula or pedagogy, assessment tools, guided-inquiry experiences and other related topics.
