Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Academic Year Fellowships
- Open on a competitive basis to graduate students with research interest in French Canada
- Intermediate level of proficiency in French required
- $15,000 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
- 50% of health insurance covered
- Possibility of a semester or a year of research in French-speaking Canada
- Awards available to US citizens

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Summer Awards
- Open on a competitive basis to enrolled graduate students wishing to improve or maintain their proficiency in French
- Candidates must be willing to commit to a 6-week French Immersion program in the US or Canada
- $2,500 stipend for room and board
- Tuition is covered up to $4,000
- Travel expenses defrayed up to $250
- Awards available to US citizens and permanent residents
- Graduate students who are not matriculating at the University of Maine can be considered for a Summer FLAS if their home institution recieves FLAS support, regardless of the language of the award.

- Available to graduate students in all disciplines focusing on Canada or Canadian-American relations
- $13,120 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
- 50% of health insurance covered
- Awards available to citizens of any country

New England-Atlantic Provinces-Québec Fellowships
- Available to graduate students engaged in cross-border research
- One fellowship is reserved for a graduate student in History
- $13,120 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
- 50% of health insurance covered
- Awards available to citizens of any country

- $11,500 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
