Employment Opportunities

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Our student employees’ professional development is one of our highest priorities. We commit to the development of our staff by offering challenging jobs, with meaningful leadership experiences and purposeful on-going training. Our student staffing structure is such that if a student has the desire and drive, he or she can move through the ranks to a position of high responsibility and leadership within a four-year span. We also pride ourselves on offering a fun and friendly team-centered environment, with family-like camaraderie. UMaine’s Department of Campus Recreation is the best of both worlds… great work experience and a whole lot of fun too!

<p class=”bodytext”>Make sure your CPR / First Aid / AED training is up to date. If your training was done here at Campus Recreation, it is good for two years.</p>
<p class=”bodytext”>We have two CPR/First Aid training sessions during Fall Training weekend; the cost is $15 and you must register AND PAY in advance (call 581-1082):<br>
- Saturday August 28 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm, or<br>
- Sunday August 29 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm</p>

<strong>Attend Fall Employee Training<br>

<strong>AREA SPECIFIC: Your supervisor will give you the details.</strong></p>
<p class=”bodytext”>Staff training this year will be different than in the past.  The training will be active, challenging, teamwork oriented, and fun (at least that is the plan!).
Please be ready to be an active participant and to have fun.
Please come to the training prepared to be and inside and outside… please wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.<br>

AFTER YOU ARE HIRED:

Online Employment/Training Resources

Step 3: CPR / First Aid / AED (for Adult/Child/Infant) Certification
Make sure your CPR / First Aid / AED training is up to date. If your training was done here at Campus Recreation, it is good for two years. We have several CPR/First Aid training sessions each Semester; the cost is $15 for our employees.  You must register AND PAY in advance.  Stop at the front desk or call 207-581-1082 for dates and times.

Step 4: Attend Staff Training

Fall “All-Staff” Training is usually held on the Sunday before Fall semester classes begin. All-Staff Training generally begins at 8:00 a.m. and finishes up in the early afternoon.  The Fall 2014 All-Staff training is scheduled for Sunday September 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Breakfast will be provided.  Area-Specific training is scheduled by each supervisor, so check with him/her for more information.

Spring Employee Training is usually held on the Sunday before Spring classes begin. Area-Specific training is scheduled by each supervisor, so check with him/her for more information.
