Graduate Programs - MBA Accounting Concentration

Designed to equip graduates with in-depth accounting principles and skill sets for management, small business ownership, startup companies, corporations, governmental agencies, analyst positions, NGOs, nonprofits, or accounting related positions.

The MBA, Accounting Concentration is a 39 credit hour program.

MBA Required Core Classes (21 credit hours):

BUA 601 – Statistical Analysis and Modeling for Organizational Operations
BUA 605 – Creating & Capturing Value in the Digital Economy
BUA 609 – Financial Statement Analysis
BUA 620 – Law, Business and Society
BUA 626 – Management of Contemporary Organizations
BUA 651 – Financial Management
BUA 649 – Management Policy

Plus the required experiential courses (6 credit hours):

BUA 596 – International Field Study

BUA 697 – Field Experience in Accounting or BUA 641 Group Consulting Project (3 credits)

Plus, Choose 4 Accounting courses (12 credit hours): 

BUA 406 – Advanced Managerial Accounting
BUA 409 – Accounting for Governmental and NPOs

Only one 400 level course allowed

BUA 507 – Advanced Accounting
BUA 515 - Tax Planning for Small Business Owners
BUA 608 – Accounting Theory & International Accounting
One approved MBA elective course

Prerequisites:  Students are required to have a minimum of a B- in each prerequisite course.

Completion of the following UMaine courses or equivalencies at an accredited college/university:
