Undergraduate Programs - Concentrations

Entrepreneurship Concentration

The concentration in Entrepreneurship is intended for students whose interests are in starting their own company or managing a small business. The concentration does not stand alone however; it is necessary to complete a major in one of our other areas: accounting, finance, management, or marketing. The student must therefore plan carefully in order to graduate on time.

International Business Concentration

The concentration in International Business is meant for students whose interests are global. The concentration does not stand alone however; it is necessary to complete a major in one of our other areas: accounting, finance, management, or marketing. The student must therefore plan carefully in order to graduate on time.

 Required Courses in the concentration

Electives:  Two internationally-oriented non-business elective courses.

A study abroad international experience is also required.

 

 

Management of Information Systems (MIS) Concentration

The concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Maine Business School, School of New Media, and the School of Computing and Information Science. The concentration in MIS is meant for students whose interests are in information systems design, development, and management. The two electives can potentially allow students to further focus their concentration into programming or new media.

Required Prerequisite:

(Note this is a prerequisite for BUA 268, BUA 363, and BUA 367)

Required Courses in the concentration:

Elective Courses in the concentration (must take 2)

 The added classes broaden MIS concentration student’s elective options considerably and the two electives are designed to allow students to further focus their concentration into new media or computer science areas.

Business Course Elective:

Computer Science Course Electives: These electives are for students who are more interested in programming.

New Media Course Electives: These electives are for students interested in the application of creative solutions with a project-oriented approach.
