The MBA - Requirements & Prerequisites to MBA Program
MBA Admission Requirements (for Professional, 36 hour or 39 hour MBA track)
Academic Performance : Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a four-year international equivalent. In reviewing the academic record, the Graduate Committee considers both the institution attended and curriculum.
GMAT Score: Applicants must submit an official GMAT score report taken within the last five years, 550 preferred, no less than 500. Test scores below 500 may be considered for provisional or conditional admission whereas the applicant has otherwise strong qualifications. GMAT website: http://www.gmac.com/gmat.aspx
Prerequisites to the MBA Program:
- BUA 201: Financial Accounting
- BUA 202: Managerial Accounting
- ECO 120: Micro Economics
- ECO 121: Macro Economics
- MAT 215: Intro to Statistics or MAT 232 Statistics
Graduates of a bachelor’s degree only may take two accelerated courses: BUA 400 (online, summer) which meets the BUA 201 Financial Accouting and BUA 202 Managerial Accounting prerequisites; and, ECO 410 (online, fall) which satisfies the ECO 120, Microeconomics and ECO 121 Macroeconomics prerequisites. All prerequisites must have a B- minimum each.

- BUA 370: Marketing
or equivalent courses taken at an accredited college or university.
Graduates of bachelor’s degrees only may take the UMaine online tutorials in Management and Marketing through Blackboard and the Finance online tutorial through Harvard. A minimum grade of B- is required for each tutorial. This is a cost effective means of satisfying these prerequisites at a self-paced study and can be completed prior to or during the time of application to the MBA program.
