Graduate Programs - Professional MBA

The Professional MBA Program

The Maine Business School values the knowledge, skills, and abilities of today’s professionals and their contributions to a dynamic classroom experience.  We welcome leaders to join our prestigious program, one that is assured of having the highest level of quality.

The Professional MBA at UMaine is ideal for individuals who desire to enhance targeted skill sets to meet the demands of an evolving, competitive workforce environment, earn a globally respected credential from our premier university, gain job marketability or career advancement within their current organizations, learn in-depth business principles and best practices, or just feel proud of achieving a personal goal for didactic purposes.

The program is not limited to currently employed professionals; we encourage applicants who have recently retired from the employment sector, or are in a career transition from one industry to another.  Military personnel, veterans, healthcare professionals, researchers, non-business majors are some of the diverse backgrounds who benefit from earning the MBA as a complement to their vocational backgrounds and perspectives.  International students may also apply to the Professional MBA; however, the internship (for course credit) can prove to be a unique experience from the American perspective.

To qualify for entry into the Professional MBA program, the applicant must provide evidence of three years of contiguous employment at the management level.  Such proof shall include but is not limited to:  progressive advancement in one’s career, responsible positions held that include significant amounts of autonomy, executive decision making, and substantive responsibilities, along with leading and directing a staff.  Positions may be inclusive of any industry where leadership, direction, and management of staff, facilities, resources, or substantial projects, or a combination thereof is or has been the primary responsibility of the individual.

The Professional MBA at UMaine may be earned on a part-time or full-time basis with select courses taught online throughout the year and is 36 hours total; thus, waving the internship.  Concentrations in the Professional MBA program include:  Accounting, Business & Sustainability, Finance, Management, or International Business.

Submission of a CV/resume is required concurrently with a completed application (including official GMAT scores) through the graduate online application, or send CV/resume directly to:
