Woodscraft Program Path - 4-H Shooting Sports Shotgun & Rifle Camp (ages 13-15)
Take your marksmanship to the next level with our Shotgun & Rifle Camp! Maybe you have completed Hunter Safety and you are hoping to become a better shooter. Possibly you are looking at getting into competition style shooting. Through consistent safety lessons taught by our certified instructors, campers will gain increased respect for and knowledge of firearm safety and use. Lessons in shooting position, eye dominance, and proper stance will help to prepare for success. We will shoot various rifles and shotguns, allowing for exposure to different types of firearms and their uses. Other activities will include outdoors skills, map and compass/GPS, swimming, hiking and more.
In cooperation with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Ages: 13 – 15
7/13/14 – 7/18/14
8/10/14 – 8/15/14
Because The University of Maine defines firearms and archery equipment as weapons, and has a strict weapons policy for the safety of all, and for liability and insurance reasons, camp program participants are asked not to bring their personal shooting sports equipment to Bryant Pond 4-H Camp & Learning Center without prior authorization from the Camp Director or the Maine 4-H Shooting Sports Program Coordinator. The 4-H Shooting Sports instruction team at Bryant Pond is very familiar with the wide variety of equipment here, and competently provide complete instruction in the shooting sports discipline programs that we offer.
