Woodscraft Program Path - Maine Woodscraft (2 weeks) (ages 13-15)
Ready for a longer, more challenging camp experience? The Maine Woodscraft Program is a two-week outdoor skills and leadership experience. This is excellent preparation for Junior Maine Guide training, but is not a pre-requisite.
This exciting two-week camp will focus on building wilderness skills and a higher level of self-confidence. Upon arrival, campers will set up their campsite and wilderness kitchen at their remote campsite on Mt. Christopher. Then it’s off to the Ropes and Challenge Course! You’ll have a chance at several high ropes elements and the zip line!
During the first week, campers will learn new skills, and practice their axemanship and wilderness cooking. From trip planning to backpacking, and canoeing skills to first aid, they will learn first hand the skills needed to enjoy the wilderness safely and comfortably. Each day will present new challenges and they will be able to put these skills to the test during a backpacking and canoe trip in some of Western Maine’s most beautiful regions!
By the end of this experience, campers will have gained life skills in the outdoors and a higher level of self-confidence. Each camper will earn his or her Maine Woodscraft Patch (either Woodswoman or Woodsman), the second and last step before taking on the challenge of Junior Maine Guide!
