Primitive Program Path - Bushcraft (2 weeks) (ages 14-17)

High on the slopes of Mt. Christopher sits Pine Brook Campsite, where Bushcraft campers live and learn, away from the bustle everyday life. Wake to the sounds of nature and begin a journey learning the skills of the traditional Maine Guide as well as primitive woods-wisdom, skills and craft making.

Learn wilderness cooking over an open fire as you help cook your own meals. Master fire building without matches, and plan and prepare for a week -long canoe journey in the North Woods. There, you will explore the wilderness and immerse yourself into your natural surroundings. Squirrels, deer, moose, owls and foxes will be your neighbors as you  learn advanced animal tracking skills. You’ll gain confidence and survival skills along this journey, and will have a chance to build your own shelter. Our Bushcraft campers will also have a chance to weave a beautiful pack-basket that they’ll bring home.

Bushcraft is the pinnacle of our Primitive Path, and the gateway to becoming a Junior Maine Guide.
