4-H Shooting Sports - 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Training Weekend Workshop
Washington County Weekend 4-H Shooting Sports Workshop:
April 6 & 7, 2013
Bryant Pond Weekend 4-H Shooting Sports Workshop:
June 14-16, 201
This weekend training will certify you as a State of Maine 4H Shooting Instructor in Rifle, Shotgun, or Archery. (One discipline of your choice) Weekend includes meals and lodging here at Bryant Pond’s beautiful Lakeside Lodge.
Certification then allows you to teach youth under 18 in that discipline. You may start a club, work with the schools, or assist in shooting activities in your region. There are many opportunities available!
The weekend is focused on youth development as well as safe shooting and risk management. VOLT training will be provided for those that do not have this through their local Extension office.
The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The National 4-H Shooting Sports Program stands out as an example. Youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.
The most successful youth programs are ones that are directed at the local level by volunteers. 4-H brings people together and promotes a spirit of cooperation. The Shooting Sports program fosters responsibility and helps youth acquire knowledge, skills, abilities and to develop social skills, leadership techniques, and gives opportunities for community service. Anyone can be a successful shooter! There are no limitations imposed by age, sex, or physical abilities, and shooting activities can last a lifetime.
Participants will be housed in our Lakeside Lodge, on a first come, first served basis. Hurry before all the rooms are booked!
