The University of Maine Brunswick Engineering Program, in partnership with Southern Maine Community College, will host a Robotics and Engineering Event for students at Portland and Kennebunk high schools and Lewiston Regional Technical Center on Monday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maine Advanced Technology & Engineering Center (MATEC), 29 Sewall St., Brunswick.

1 p.m.: Departure
From 10 a.m. to noon, tours of the center and an alternate design competition will be offered to students who do not participate in robotics or who have been eliminated from the event.
This activity is to expose high school students, particularly underserved minorities, to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). It is the conclusion of a larger program hosted at MATEC at Brunswick Landing, and funded by Bank of America Charitable Foundation, as part of a Workforce Development & Education grant. During the previous year, funding has provided Portland High School and Lewiston Regional Technical Center students with robotics equipment and training.
