View Submitted Ideas

You are welcome to view Blue Sky one-page ideas that have been submitted to the Strategic Planning Leadership team. As we can, we will continue to update the ideas available to view here.
The technology we are using is Google Docs. There is no need to have a Google account to view the documents.
We are making these ideas public because we hope to encourage more input from you. To contribute your own one-page Blue Sky Idea, please visit the Information Gathering Sessions: Schedule and Locations page to learn how.
The one-page Blue Sky Idea documents have been named using the topic area the Blue Sky Idea is most closely aligned with. Those topic areas are:
Athletics | Interdisciplinary Research Initiative | Academic Programs | Research Innovation & Economic Development | UMaine Students/Parents | University Sustainability (Including Revenue and Recruitment) | Community Engagement | Student Life | Infrastructure | Graduate Studies | Undergraduate Education | Marketing | Arts, Humanities and Culture

Commenting on the Documents
If you have a Google account (e.g. @maine.edu or a general @gmail.com), you have the ability to:
- Comment on each idea,
- Search the list of ideas using keywords and phrases,
- Receive notification when others comment on documents in which you previously commented,
- Print/download the document.
The requirement of a Google account to access these functions is part of Google’s permissions policies and not something the Strategic leadership team is able to change. If you do not have a Google account and would like to comment, you can register for one for free. We leave that decision up to you. Again, anyone on the internet can view the Blue Sky Idea documents.
The Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, who is facilitating the strategic planning process, will also receive notification whenever a comment is made.
Some tips!
Searching within the ideas:
Using the search feature at the top of the Google Docs page, you can search through the text of the documents using keywords and phrases.

For a very brief (and somewhat entertaining) review of how to comment and reply to comments you can watch this Google video.

- Place your cursor or highlight the text where you’d like your comment to appear.
- From the Insert menu, select Comment.
- You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+ M (Cmd+Option+M for Mac) to insert a comment.
- Type your comment in the box that appears to the right of the document.
- You can also right click over your highlighted text or insertion cursor and choose, “Comment.”
Ground Rules
We encourage you to comment on and discuss the ideas! Keep it civil and stay on topic. We reserve the right to delete any comments that are not civil and/or are off topic.
