Mentoring and Modeling – Promote undergraduate and graduate opportunities for student success, including value-added residential life, research fellowships, internships, effective advising and learning environments.

Strategies:
Align the 2012 Division of Student Affairs strategic plan (STRIDES) with salient Blue Sky initiatives in Pathways 1-5 Fall
Launch The Greek Initiative– featuring the Sorority Village Concept and the Fraternity & Sorority 5-Star Chapter Award Project– to grow and strengthen the undergraduate experience and the spirit of community across the entire campus Ongoing
Implement recommendations from Best Practices Working Group regarding conversion and expansion of Safe Campus Project functions to Sexual Violence Response, Education, and Prevention Program Fall
Initiate long-range plan to improve the student experience by upgrading Memorial Union (multiple on-going and future projects) Spring Summer Fall

The Cabinet will continue to explore and develop a Master Plan for Enhancing Student Residential Life Campus Master Plan website Spring
The Alumni Association and Division of Innovation and Economic Development will prepare a plan to optimize the internship and co-op opportunities for UMaine students, creating the Flagship Internship Program Spring
The Provost working with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Assessment, deans and faculty, will develop a proposal to formalize assessment of student learning outcomes for university-wide academic programs

Spring
The Provost working with the Council of Deans and the faculty will review, assess and improve the General Education curriculum and come up with
a plan of action.
Summer
Working with the Graduate School and the UMaine Advancement Team, strategically plan to increase the number of funded Graduate Research
Assistantships/Fellowships from 25 to 50. The Plan should require a $10M endowment goal to fund 25 annual Fellowships of $25,000 by the end of 2017
Spring
Working with the University of Maine System, the Provost and the faculty will continue to assess best practices for providing e-learning opportunities for UMaine Students and finalize recommendations from the various task forces OnLine Maine Workgroup (PDF)
