Wild Blueberry Pesticide License Training Sessions and Exams
The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Board of Pesticides Control will also present a three-hour core training session on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the University of Maine at Machias Science Building, Room 115 from 8:00 to 11:00 AM to prepare growers for the Private Pesticide Applicator Core Exam. Following the training session, there will be an additional hour to provide growers training for the Blueberry commodity exam. After the exam training, both Core and Commodity exams will be administered at 1:00 PM.
Pre-registration is required and a fee of $10 will be charged. Please call 207.581.3878 or email Meghan Dill email@example.com to reserve a seat. You will need to indicate the tests you plan to take when you contact Meghan and then send in your registration money. If you are unsure which exams you need to take, call her and she can go over the options with you. If you want to take commercial applicator exams, you must file an application with the Board of Pesticides Control. Contact Gary Fish at 207.287.7545 or Gary.Fish@maine.gov.
Maine Wild Blueberry Crop Figures for 2013 Not Available
USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service usually publishes the Preliminary Non-Citrus Fruit and Nut Report at the end of January. However, because of budget cuts mandated by Congress they have eliminated this report. The Non-Citrus Fruit and Nut Report will not be released until July 17, 2014 at 3:00 PM. So I will not be able to provide you with the North American Blueberry Crop Summary until the August Wild Blueberry Newsletter.
