Ecosystem Components - Climate

The climate at BBWM is typical for central Maine, with a moderate marine influence due to proximity to the ocean ~60km from the site.  Climate information for Maine is available at the Maine State Climate Office which has numerous links to climate and weather information.

Specific information about aspects of climate at BBWM related to existing temperature and moisture data collection are available at the environmental monitoring area of this site.

The following figure was generated on the NOAA web site for average annual precipitation in Maine from 1987-2004, covering the approximate period of the BBWM study (Average = 41.02 inches.  Trend = -0.08 inches/decade).  These and other types of data can be easily plotted by clicking here.
