Faculty - Karen Linehan

Karen Linehan, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art History, began teaching at the University of Maine in 1984, soon after completing her M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies at Boston University. Her research there focused on Venetian Renaissance painting (Giorgione and Pietro Bembo) , Van Gogh (the influence of Carlyle, Dickens and illustrations for ‘The Graphic’), and Hampshire Pottery (research and exhibition curator, Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, New Hampshire). Her recent teaching and research has explored connections between American and Canadian 19th?century landscape painting and between Canadian and British WWI painters. Since joining the Deptartment of Art, Professor Linehan has offered introductory surveys and upper?level topics in modern American, Canadian and European art and architecture.
