New Sculptor Hired in Department of Art

Greg Ondo has been hired as the new professor of art in sculpture for the Department of Art. Professor Ondo teaches sculpture and foundry courses, introducing students to a wide array of sculptural materials, techniques and forms. He was central to this summer’s collaboration between the Schoodic International Sculpture Syposium and the University of Maine which brought eight sculptors from South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Holland, New Zealand and Maine to create large scale stone sculpture out of Maine granite. In addition, Greg is working with Veazie Community School on Clay in the Classroom, as a visiting artist and co-teacher to introduce ceramic techniques and topics to enrich three-dimensional art offerings. This 2012-13 project is funded through the Maine Arts Commission SMART grant.
