Frequently asked questions about volunteering:
How can I become a 4-H volunteer?
Do you like birdwatching, cooking, gardening or working with animals? There are many interesting projects and fun things to do as part of 4-H. How can I become involved?
Whether you want to be a club leader or work with kids on a short-term project, there’s a role for you in 4-H.

- Chaperon: Provide transportation, or simply go with a youth group to a special event or activity.
- Short-Term Volunteer: Teach a special interest program or assist a 4-H group with a special project.
Do I have to have children to be a 4-H leader?
No. 4-H volunteer leaders simply need to enjoy spending time with children and youth, and be willing to help them learn and develop.
Do I have to know a lot about a subject to be a leader?
No. Volunteer leaders solicit help from other volunteers. In addition, volunteer leaders can attend training to help them feel more comfortable and knowledgeable in specific areas.
