Faculty and Staff - Assistant Professor of Military Science
Mr. Hoover joined the Black Bear Battalion in September of 2011 as an Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS). In addition to his duties as an APMS, Mr. Hoover also serves as a First Lieutenant in the Maine Army National Guard (MEARNG). He earned his commission through ROTC at Central Michigan University in 2009 . His military experiences include assignments to the 182nd Field Artillery Battalion of the Michigan Army National Guard where he served as Maintenance Platoon leader as well as Public Affairs Officer and Contract Officer Representative. He recently returned from a SECFOR deployment at Camp Patriot, Kuwait Naval Base. He was further selected to perform as the Special Inspector General, Afghanistan Reconstruction site officer in command for Regional Command – South in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Mr. Hoover lives in Orono and enjoys camping, motorcycles and traveling. He is in the process of receiving his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Maine. Mr. Hoover is currently a memeber of the 152nd Component Repair Company in the MEARNG.
His military education includes the Ordnance Officers Basic Leaders Course, Airborne School, Contract Officers Representative course, and ROTC Faculty Development Course. His awards include the Parachutist Wings, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Forces Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, and Army Commendation Medal.
