4-H members serve as honorary pages at the State House!

Taylor W., Bronwyn G., Lauren C., Ashley W. and Simeon G. served as honorary pages at the State House.

4-H members served as honorary pages during UMaine Day at the Legislature on March 11, 2010. When the Maine House of Representatives is convened, the Honorary Page program gives youth an opportunity to participate in the process and to interact with Legislators. Under the supervision of the Sergeant-At-Arms and Chamber Staff, 4-H members had the opportunity to see what it was like to work on the floor of the House and Senate and be part of a Legislative Session. They performed such duties as delivering messages to Legislators and distributing Amendments and Supplements in the Chamber.

Youth in Governance is one of the mission mandates of the 4-H youth development program. For more information about 4-H opportunities in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties please contact Extension Educator Kristy Ouellette, at 353-5550.
