Spotted Wing Drosophila, White Grubs Threaten Berries This Summer

As strawberries ripened this season in Maine, we saw some plants showing signs of stress and, depending upon which field we were in, the problems were related to Phytophthora crown rot, winter injury, black root rot, and/or white grubs.

Don’t forget about your strawberries after harvest. Follow the recommended renovation steps as soon after harvest as possible, and continue to scout for and manage disease, insect and weed problems as they arise.
