As a recipient of a National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant, UMaine’s Rising Tide Center shares the ADVANCE Program goal of “increasing the representation and advancement of women in the academic science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, thereby contributing to the development of a more diverse science and engineering workforce” at the University of Maine. To this end, we are providing opportunities to foster the professional development of women in the STEM and social and behavioral sciences (SBS) at the University. These grants are aimed at reducing isolation and encouraging the building of collaborative, collegial relationships across the UMaine system, the state, and nationwide, thereby facilitating retention, promotion and advancement of women faculty.
