As part of UMaine’s NSF supported ADVANCE Project, grants totaling more than $300,000 were awarded over the last six years to faculty in STEM and social and behavioral science (SBS) fields, and to other faculty working to achieve mutually beneficial Rising Tide goals at UMaine. In 2015, the University of Maine Foundation introduced the President Susan J. Hunter Fund in recognition of the significant achievements of UMaine’s 20th, and first woman president. Future distributions from this endowed fund will build on Rising Tide initiatives at UMaine by supporting the professional development of our faculty, with a preference for women and underrepresented minorities.
While the Rising Tide grants competition will not be funded in the 2016-2017 academic year, we look forward to offering professional development awards in the future.
