Rising Tide Center to launch Maine Career Connect

Author Cipriano slated to visit UM

June 19, 2013 – Author and educator Robert Cipriano will visit our campus this fall to offer advice and strategies for fostering faculty civility and creating a culture of mutual respect. The author of  “Facilitating a Collegial Department in Higher Education: Strategies for Success,” Cipriano has stirred controversy with a collegiality test that identifies good and bad behavior. Read about the controversy in the June 10 edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education.  Cipriano will be on campus Sept. 19 to conduct professional development workshops with Dept. Expanding your Horizons on campus for 26th year

The Weekly, April 3, 2013 – Brewer middle school girls enjoyed a variety of interesting science related activities, including making slime, when they visited campus on March 14 to attend the 26th annual Expanding your Horizons. Gardner appointed ADVANCE Director

Promotion and tenure announced for 9 women faculty

UMaine News Release, March 18, 2013 – The University of Maine System Board of Trustees has approved promotion and/or tenure for 22 University of Maine faculty members.  All were nominated by President Paul Ferguson based on a peer and administrative review of their successful work in teaching, research and public service. Bangor Daily News, March 14, 2013 – “Biofuels development in Maine: Using trees to oil the wheels of sustainability” is an op-ed written by Caroline Noblet, Mario Teisl and Jonathan Rubin of the School of Economics, and Katherine Farrow, a recent Master’s graduate in Resource Economics. Waller recognized for “pressing the limits”

WABI TV, Feb 23, 2013 – Assistant Research Professor Rhian Waller was identified as a risk taker in the March edition of National Geographic magazine based on her deep sea diving experiences in pursuit of cold water corals. Nelson launches citizen scientist program

UMaine News Release, Jan 7, 2013 – Sarah Nelson, a scientist with the Sen. George J. Mitchell Center for Environmental and Watershed Research is collaborating with a local high school science teacher to monitor mercury in local waters as part of the Acadia Learning initiative.
