Our work at the Rising Tide Center continues to be guided by the notion that “a rising tide lifts all boats.”
As the recipients of NSF ADVANCE funding, our goal has been to enhance the recruitment, retention and advancement of women faculty in STEM and Social-Behavioral sciences at UMaine. But we have found that the programs implemented in fulfillment of this targeted mission are widely valued as they have had a measurable positive impact across campus.
We now seek to sustain this rising tide with a data-driven approach focused on promoting a positive and supportive work environment for all UMaine faculty. Objectives to be met in achieving this goal including diversifying our faculty, engaging stakeholders and new partners, and enhancing bias literacy, among others.
This website presents information about Rising Tide programs and activities, reports of data collected over the term of the ADVANCE project, and links to both on- and off-campus resources useful to women in academic sciences, department chairs and academic administrators, and all faculty.
We invite you to peruse our pages and urge you to contact us if you have resources to share or questions about our programs. Please join us in sustaining the Rising Tide!
