Calhoun’s conservation plan engages stakeholders

UMaine News Release, Oct. 19, 2016 – A vernal pool plan that was six years in development is being implemented by two Maine towns and has been recognized as a viable voluntary conservation model. Aram Calhoun, professor of wetland ecology, collaborated with local, state and federal agencies and diverse stakeholder groups to develop this new tool that seeks to protect amphibians and fairy shrimp by tailoring existing state regulations to fit local needs.
