Maine 4-H Days - 2013 Maine 4-H Days Vaccination Information
2013 Maine 4-H Days Rabies Statement
All cattle, sheep, horses, and dogs brought to Maine 4-H Days must be vaccinated for rabies if the animal is 4 months of age or older on or before July 18, 2013. The vaccination must have been administered on or before June 18, 2013 and be current for that species. All 4-H members bringing cattle, sheep, horses, and dogs to Maine 4-H Days must show a Veterinarian Certification that their animals have received a rabies vaccination. Certification must be in writing, must be signed by the veterinarian, and must clearly identify the animal or animals in question. Exhibitors showing animals which do not have an approved rabies vaccine (goats for example) are strongly encouraged to have their animals vaccinated.
2013 Maine 4-H Horse Vaccination Statement
4-Hers attending 4-H Horse events in 2013 must provide proof of current, annual vaccination for rabies as well as a current Coggins test done by a veterinarian. EVH-1 and Equine Influenza are also required, horse owners may, however administer their own EVH-1 and Equine Influenza inoculations and a sales receipt will be sufficient evidence for proof of vaccination. EVH-1 and Equine Influenza are considered effective for six months. Plan the timing of your inoculations with your last event in mind. It is recommended that your horse is current on EEE in consultation with your local practicing veterinarian.
