Maine 4-H Days 2012 Welcoming Ceremony
Maine 4-H Days is THE event open to all 4-Hers and their families around the state of Maine. Maine 4-H Days will have a formal welcoming ceremony on Friday night. This will begin with a parade of 4-Her’s from around the state, lead into an ice cream social and will wrap up with a Contra Dance. This is a great chance to meet other 4-H families from around the state with everyone in the same place at the same time. Information about the Maine 4-H Days Scavenger Hunt will be distributed during the opening ceremony. Ages for the scavenger hunt are 5-8 and 9-11. Prizes will be given to those who complete the scavenger hunt by the end of the weekend. Everyone is encouraged to participate!
Maine 4-H Days welcoming ceremony will open with a parade of 4-Her’s from around the state. We would like to see representation from every club and county present at Maine 4-H Days. Parade participants may include club or county banners, foot traffic, bicycles, and livestock. No motorized vehicles.
If you plan to participate in the parade, please indicate so on your registration form, and submit a Parade Commentary form, which can be found on the Maine 4-H Days website at: http://umaine.edu/4h/youth/4-h-events/maine-4-h-days/. Participants should meet beside the pulling arena to line up for the parade at 6:00 Friday night.

6:30 pm – Parade begins
7:00 pm – Flag Ceremony with formal welcome followed immediately by Ice Cream Social
8:00 pm – Contra Dance
6:00 pm – Join in evening games. Ages 10+ (as of 6/23/12) can join in “Capture the Flag” game the Midway Area. Ages 10 and under (as of 6/23/12) may join in the Entertainment Area for a game of “Capture the Flag” or a shoe scramble.
7:30 pm – 4-H Viewers Choice Movie in the Mall. Join us for a family film in the mall, complete with popcorn. Bring your own drinks, chair or blanket.
Take-A-Chance Silent Auction
The Take-A-Chance Silent Auction is back again this year, and this year is happening on Sunday afternoon. This annual auction raises money to help send 4-Hers to the Eastern States Exhibition in W. Springfield, Massachusetts. Members of many of the animal commodities are participating to help cover expenses for their teams to attend the event. Over one hundred
4-Hers from all over the State of Maine participate in animal events at Eastern States with their dairy, beef, horse, sheep, goat, dog, and working steer projects. The public is invited to this event.
Viewing of the items in the auction will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in the Windsor Mall building on the fairgrounds. The drawing will begin at 2:00 pm.
4-Hers are collecting quality new items, handmade items, gift certificates, and certificates for services. Donations are still being accepted and can be made by calling the State 4-H Office at 1-800-287-0274.
Tickets for the auction will be 10 for $2.50 and packaged in envelopes worth $2.50, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $50.00, and $100.00. No wrinkled or bent tickets will be accepted. Dollar tickets will be sold for items valued at greater than $100.00.
